Can you please define "fully" in that context? I'm not sure what you mean. In the MX-5, with the iPod car kit I bought if I use the iPod dock connector I can control the iPod from the OEM head unit, OEM steering wheel controls, and the iPod itself. The Head Unit's screen displays ID3 tag information. And, of course, it charges through that plug. How much more "full" can I have an iPod integrated into a head unit? The aftermarket 1 DIN non-flipout screen head unit iPod connectors I've used that lock out the iPod's own interface can't do any more than that from the head unit. If you want to select a specific playlist on that head unit, its faster to disconnect the iPod, scroll through, start playing it, then plug it back in. At that point, you may as well just use the line-in.

Some of the modern multimedia head units will show you album art, replicate the scroll wheel shape on the touch screen, and even play iPod videos. Don't expect them to be cheap, though. That Alpine IDA-X001 doesn't look cheap either. At least its 1DIN but, personally, in the SW20 I'd go double or get a flip-out screen. 1DIN screens are tiny._________________ |

| the IDAs are great but remember they are Ipods only!
i got ipod only deck by fusion, much better than the IDAs but they are quite pricey
allan, the "fully" ipod integeration is stereo while the OEM and AUX Line In, they are not stereo only mono divided to two channel
sound quality is reduced |
